SED 2008

Credit Crunch - not on the Doe stand !

"A considerable number of orders taken over the three days has made SED 2008

the best I can remember for a number of years" reports Graham Parker, Sales

Director for Ernest Doe & Sons Ltd.

"There was an air of caution at SED 2008 with the words 'credit crunch' on many

lips, but our stand was busier than normal" said Graham " and genuine interest

was shown and many deals concluded."

Graham reported that there are certainly some sections of the construction

business which are slowing down but Ernest Doe's construction machinery

business continues to grow and the sales force has been expanded to

accommodate this growth.

"We offer a good old-fashioned service" says Graham "Sales, Parts and Service

all feature equally in our philosophy and I believe this has attributed to our success.

Our slogan is "Where you can buy with confidence" and in these uncertain times

purchasers of big capital equipment are looking for a long term partner to deal with - a

partner they can rely on.

A volume seller at the Show was our Hyundai 55-7.  A 'power house' in the 5½ ton midi

excavator sector " reported Graham.  "This is by far our best selling midi and offers

superb value for money as well as being a very reliable unit".

"Another new attraction on our stand for 2008 was the all new Komatsu PC26 - a

machine we have wanted for some time " said Graham "as the PC26 fits into the

weight class which is legal to tow and I see will become very popular very quickly

with our customers".

Andy Parnham (left), our construction machinery sales representative for Essex and

Richard Link, our Dartford branch manager, take time out to pose for the camera.  Andy

has manned the Ernest Doe stand since 1980 - that's 28 consecutive SEDs!

Doug Potter, our ever famous demonstrator, did his usual tricks (as well as a few new ones)

to entertain the crowds.  Doug is now retired from full time employment but still does a

number of shows and exhibitions around the World for both Ernest Doe and Hyundai.

This year Doug performed on a Hyundai 210-7A excavator  "…powerful, agile and very

comfortable even at the angles I get the machine on" reports Doug.

Cormach at SED 2008

The Cormach Sales Team from left to right:

James Clark  -  Sales and Branch Manager
Tony Houlding  -  Cormach Technical Sales
Rob Hollick  -  Cormach Sales Representative
Giulio De Luca  -  Cormach Export Sales Manager

"The Cormach Sales Team also had good enquiry volumes at SED 2008, mainly for

our big heavy lift cranes" reports James Clark, Cormach's UK Sales Manager.  "Although

our range of cranes spreads from the very smallest to overcome manual handling and

Health and Safety issues on small vans and trucks, but the big growth sector for us is

in the big lorry cranes.  We have an number of enquiries for cranes over 100 ton/metre

which a few years ago was unheard of but this is a sector we have pioneered with Cormach

and believe will continue to grow."

SED 2008 - a great success for Ernest Doe and we thank all who visited our stand for taking

an interest in our Company and the products we sell.

DOE SHOW 2008 REVIEW

A real buzz of optimism surrounded the 2008 Doe Show with orders a plenty received in

all departments. "Three days of blue skies and sunshine drew the crowds with well over

12,000 visitors to the Show - a record attendance " reports Graham Parker, Sales Director.

"We always knew that this year's Show would be a big one for us with all sectors of our

business seeing somewhat of a boom time; so we had anticipated and

planned for a big crowd".

Visitors to the 2008 Doe Show flow in on the first morning

Plenty to see and buy in the Shopsoiled Machinery Section

Another deal appears to be done

Time to catch up with old friends

The new range of Case IH Tractors pleased the crowds

Colin Doe, Managing Director, takes time to show two visitors the virtues of the new Case Puma

The new New Holland T6000 mid-horsepower Tractors drew the crowds and for the

first time in the UK the T6080 could be seen working pulling the new Lemken Tansanit Plough

The bargain "Steptoe" stand is always popular and this year was certainly no exception

The large display of groundcare equipment catered for all sections of this market, from

the smallest pocket handkerchief lawn to the largest of municipal and   golf course

equipment. Although bright sunshine the wind had a keen bite and the free hot drinks served

by our own team of ladies really went down well, especially after spending time on our

demonstration fields.

As popular as ever the demonstration plots had both tractors and implements showing

today's very latest technology and techniques, through to "yesteryear" showing how it used

to be done.  There was also a very special line-up of "Tractors through the Ages" showing

tractors from each decade covering the 1920s through to the 1980s.

A little advice is taken - maybe just one more turn?

The Fordson does a stirling job

As usual the Doe 130 attracts a lot of attention

The light land at the Doe Show gives the modern day tractors and implements a chance to

demonstrted when many farmers cannot get on to the   land

The ever famous a brave Doug Potter again performed his tricks at this

year's Doe Show

A special display of GPS Guidance Systems proved a real crowd puller and the New Holland

T7060 tractor was truly driven using "NO HANDS" !!

It is quite amazine what you can make out of a bit of wood when you have a chain saw in your

hands, especially when you are one of the Husqvarna demonstration team

"Sound advice from both the "Doe Team" and the manufacturers makes the Doe Show the ideal place to buy equipment

for the coming seasons - there is no doubt we have seen a dramatic upturn in our agricultural machinery sales and for

the remainder of 2008 there will be a shortage of some machinery, especially imported goods", reported Graham Parker.

"The level of business concluded at the Show suggests many customers have thought ahead and used the Show to

forward order their requirements and secure the delivery they require - all blessed with taking full advantage of extra

discounts and 'bargain pricing'".

Sound advice available at the Doe Show

The indoor displays housed everything from grain walling to security devices, whilst acting as

a haven from the wind - somewhere to warm up!

Another tractor sold, all be it this time one in a box!

So the Doe Show 2008 has to be classed as a resounding success with record crowds and

certainly record sales.  If you came we hope that you enjoyed your day and grabbed yourself

a bargain; if you missed this year's Doe Show please mark your diary for 4th, 5th, 6th February

2009 when we do hope you will join us.
